Animated duck for stream
Having fun in Illustrator and After Effects
The duckie
This little gem was created for a Twitch stream channel. The “brief” was simple:
- the streamer liked Rincewind, the main character from the Discworld universe,
- they really like rubber ducks.
So, the duck was born.
I create the assets in Illustrator, and animated them in After Effects.
creating the scenes
Every Twitch stream follows the same set of assets or screens:
- Starting soon.
- Just chatting,
- Stream ending
- Transition screen
- Privacy / BRB screen
These are exported as separate assets, then uploaded in a tool like Stream Labs and “re-assebled”.

event animations
Aside from these screens, there are also animations for specific events, such as donations, subscriptions of follow.
Each animation is an individual small gif that pops on screen when triggered.
